An important part of child safeguarding at our clubs is to know where we stand.
The Office of Children's Guardian have created the Child Safe Self-Assessment which aims to assist clubs in identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement in how you can better implement the NSW Child Safe Standards.
It is a legal obligation to only engage staff and volunteers that have a valid Working With Children's Check.
-
All club employees and volunteers aged 18 and over must hold a valid WWCC, which must be verified through your organisation’s Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) Employer Portal
– not through Gymnastics Online. -
WWCCs must be validated annually, and a copy of the validation must be kept on file at your club and easily accessible for compliance purposes.
-
Individuals turning 18 soon? They can apply for a WWCC up to 3 months before their 18th birthday via Service NSW!
-

Did you know that your club is required to have a Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) and a Child Safe Representative (CSR) within your club? It is recommended that these roles are not held by the same person, or by the club owner or manager.
